So you’ve enjoyed your first year subscription of A2 Hosting which, if you’re like me, was at 50% off for the initial year. However, the year has now ended and you’re now faced with the an invoice for the next year and have to decide whether to continue at the much higher subscription price or shop around for a new hosting provider.

Frankly, I’ve found no issues with A2 Hosting as a hosting provider and would find it a hassle to move unless the subscription was a lot cheaper to justify the work of moving all my sites. Thus, I started browsing the different hosting provider’ sites but after shopping around, I found that A2 Hosting’s offerings really weren’t much more expensive than others.

As such, I really didn’t want to quit the service but the hefty subscription was still going to be a problem for my budget. So the first step I took was to google high and low for some discount codes or vouchers for A2 Hosting. Unfortunately, although there were many available they were all only good for new subscribers and not someone like me who’s looking to renew their existing subscription.

Finally, as a last resort, I opened a ticket to A2 Hosting’s customer service (you can do this via your dashboard when you’re logged into your account) and asked for a discount. They got back to me fairly quickly and offered to take 25% off my subscription. If I was ok with that, they would proceed to send me a new invoice and that would be that.

Although I was hoping for more (I’m a hopeless optimist, I know) – a 25% discount is better than nothing and definitely nothing to be scoffed at. However, I also wondered if there were more favourable rates for longer subscription periods such as 2 or 3 years. Well, lo and behold, these biennial or triennial subscriptions were not only cheaper overall – but also came with a bigger discount of 35%.

Now I wouldn’t recommend this option if you’re a single site owner looking to host your individual website as there could be cheaper options for you, but for a budding web developer like me who also hosts clients’ websites, I didn’t mind the longer subscription period especially since I’ve tried it out for a year without problems.

So there you have it, the not so secret method of getting a discount – ask for it! The team at A2 Hosting seems friendly and efficient enough (at least in my experience) and the discount is definitely worth it!

By the way, if you’re a new subscriber who’s reading this, you can view the plans available from A2 Hosting here. Yup, it’s an affiliate link so I’ll be able to earn some money if you do decide to sign up.

Or if you just need someone to help host your WordPress website, whatsapp me here or view my gig on fiverr here for cheaper hosting options.

Good luck in your search!
